Phillip’s half-time with the ALERT team
Phillip Wanduru is a PhD student in the ALERT project. We congratulate Phillip on presenting his work to his supervisors and his PhD board during the so-called half-time review last week. A half-time review at Karolinska Instituted gives the PhD students a chance to obtain feedback on what has been done and what has been planned from experienced researchers independent of both the project and supervisor halfway through their thesis.
During his PhD with the title “ Determining short and medium-term sequelae, their predicting factors, and experiences of caring for newborns with intrapartum hypoxic-ischemic insults: Studies in Eastern rural Uganda”, Phillip researches the predictors of birth complications among babies, their one-year prognoses, and parents’ experiences providing hospital and at-home care for them. The ultimate goal of this work is to identify feasible solutions to improve hospital, home-based care and outcomes for neonates who experience birth complications in Uganda.
