Centre de Recherche en Reproduction Humaine et en Démographie (CERRHUD)
The Centre of Research in Human Reproduction and Demography (CERRHUD) is the research centre associated to the University Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the University hospital /Hubert Koutoukou Maga of Cotonou in Benin. CERRHUD’s mission is to build research capacities, to develop and implement research programs and implement evidence-informed interventions for better health in Benin and in West-Africa. CERRHUD has also the mission to promote and support evidence-based policy and decision making for improving the population’s health.
Since 1979, CERRHUD has developed strong “roots” in Benin and in many francophone African countries as well as in the anglophone countries in West Africa. This was performed through the community of the alumni of the gynecology and obstetrics school of Pr Eusèbe Alihonou, through numerous multi-country research projects and through partnerships, and networks across the region.
Grounded on those roots, the word “Bridging” summarizes our current vision: bridging the North and the South, bridging English and Francophone Africa, bridging decision-makers and implementers, bridging problems and solutions to solve health problems. In the accomplishment of its mission, CERRHUD promotes continuously equity, the valorization of local learning and capacities, continuous learning and South-led development through research and context-sensitive evidence generation and use.
